Today I crossed a big event off my bucket list: scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef! This was truly an unforgettable experience that my family and I have spent a good portion of the summer preparing for. My mom got recertified and my sister and I were certified for the first time! Being submerged under water is like visiting a completely different world; I never felt unsafe, just full of wonder and awe. We saw a variety of coral and some different species of small fish. Otherwise, the visibility was somewhat poor. Regardless we enjoyed ourselves!
I think scuba diving is such a blessing. Here we are, able to view a completely different environment on our planet. It’s insane that some people don’t care enough or are too ignorant to try to help save these environments from destruction. By curbing our emissions of greenhouse gases and stopping the dumping of harmful waste in the ocean, we take steps to ensure the survival of these ecosystems.
