Hello, old sport. My name is Kyle Ivey and I am a Musical Theatre major in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. My musical theatre repertoire began with You're A Good Man Charlie Brown in the 5th grade, but it was not until my freshman year in high school that I knew I wanted to continue with theatre professionally.
High school proved to be a worthy catalyst of my passion: my love and commitment to musical theatre only solidified as I was cast in shows and showed promise in my classwork. As fortunate as I was to attend a performing arts high school, my life did not solely revolve around the theater. I supplemented my hunger for knowledge and wonderment with various activities and curiosities including swimming, spanish, piano, photography, National Honor Society and government. Although I was sure of my career path, I challenged myself with rigorous academic courses throughout high school and continue to do so in college.
Even now, as I'm on the path to becoming a top notch performer at one of the nation's best conservatories for musical theatre, I continue to look for opportunities to follow my other passions. I view UC as an environment full of opportunity to work with students and faculty toward a common goal. Through student organizations like the ROAR Tour Guides and CCM Tribunal, and the Honors Program, I am able to find fulfillment as I collaborate with others.
