Welcome to Priscilla Beach Theatre! After an eight day excursion across the country from Las Vegas, Nevada to Plymouth, Massachusetts, I made it to where I'll be spending the rest of my summer. I couldn't be luckier. This place is amazing. The campus is beautiful and the owners, Bob and Sandy Malone, couldn't be more friendly. The neighborhood is so welcoming, and the beach is only a seven minute walk down the road. I am so fortunate to be able to do what I love in a place that is so nurturing. Today we started our first rehearsal for A Chorus Line, one of the most iconic musicals ever created. The whole cast sat down in a circle and talked about what this show means to us as performers and what we want to bring to our performances. This got us all on the same page and helped establish a baseline for where everyone else was in their own journey of this show. We then spent the rest of rehearsal learning the music for the ensemble numbers. This was a very rough sing-through, as most of us have never been in the show before and were unfamiliar with the complexity of the 'Montages'. Ultimately, today in rehearsal, I achieved being able to call on my technique of sight singing to keep me engaged in the music. I learned that every music director is different, and our music director is going to rely on us to do most of the groundwork instead of teaching us the parts. In the next rehearsal, I'm going to move past my fear of the unknown and fully commit to what we are doing as an ensemble. I can better prepare for the next rehearsal by practicing my harmonies and fully knowing my solos. |
